The tease continues

Veteran Leaf fans see the pattern clearly by now.
Why don’t they just put a 2-0 deficit on the scoreboard to start the games?
For the umpteenth time this year, they allowed two goals before dominating the shot clock, which eventually read 49 to 23 in favour of the Leafs.
The Leafs have a 1-9 record in overtime this year.
Losing teams have numbers like that. It’s that simple.
Phil Kessel’s struggles continue as he is now goalless in five games. That’s going to start the rumbles of discontent over the trade that brought him here.
The offensive struggles are still there for this team.
Oddly, Ron Wilson dismissed a good question in the post-game scrum. That question was a critique of the club’s shot selection. There are a couple of glaring examples among the many opportunities on this night. On one, Tomas Kaberle is set up with momentum toward the goal and instead of going high, he shovels an easy shot into Halak’s pads. On another, Phil Kessel missed the entire net with a point blank attempt from right in front of the net. On a couple of other attempts, Lee Stempniak fired shots right at Halak’s pads, too.
So, yeah, they did fire 49 shots, but, there were a lot of shots right into Halak’ body.
All in all, the frustration meter is on red alert, for the Leafs, as they play very well for long stretches, but ultimately fall short.
